Strengthening teams through mindset techniques to improve collaboration, build relationships, boost productivity, and increase profitability

What is Self-Care?

The practice of taking action to preserve and protect your well-being with behaviors that promote a successful work-life balance. Self-care actions teach you how to better cope with daily stressors through mindset and mindfulness techniques.

Self-care is the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider, according to the World Health Organization.

According to a new Forbes Health survey, 45% of respondents said an improvement in mental health is their #1 New Year’s Resolution in 2023. Studies show self-care is used to improve physical, mental, and emotional health - a combination that is essential for reducing stress, staying productive, and being more present.

About Farrah

Welcome, I’m Farrah Reyna, a mindset trainer advocating self-care for individuals and teams in the office and beyond.

A near-death experience halted my broadcast television career, which led to the development of Being Happy Matters, a program designed to provide companies with self-care education, resources, and activities for their teams.

Being Happy Matters teaches busy executives and employees how to eliminate stress through self-care activities that enhance performance in the office, improve employee retention, build stronger teams, and create a healthy and positive culture.

Stress is a common workplace hazard and costs businesses more than $300 billion a year, according to Stress.org. It can have physical effects on your body contributing to high blood pressure, chest pain, headaches, upset stomach, sleep disruption, and other symptoms. These health issues cause employees to miss work.

Research shows that self-care supports stress management, fosters resilience, and promotes positive health outcomes. Providing self-care resources can make a significant impact on your bottom line.

You can be the leader that sparks change and establishes a healthier working environment.
I’m here to show you how!

Does this sound like you?

  • You want a schedule that doesn’t keep you shackled to the team, your desk, your laptop, your phone, and your clients.

You’re worn out from always having to appear perfect when you feel that all you do is put out fires and cover everyone who doesn’t do their job.

You seldom take time for yourself to rest, relax, and recharge. You’re accustomed to ignoring your health and feeling run down all the time.

All you want to do is unplug, rest, and do something enjoyable.

  • Most days, you find yourself feeling irritable, annoyed, and on edge because of the inability to achieve tasks and goals. You become overwhelmed and give up easily.

You too often feel like you’re the only one who’s working and doing it right. You find it hard to rely on others to step up and help.

All you want is a day off to relax and enjoy some time alone or with your family without being interrupted by calls and emails from the office.

  • You spend most of your time working long hours with a heavy workload.

You’re constantly worried about job security.

You find yourself in conflict with co-workers or bosses. Your performance is suffering.

You’ll dealing with depression, anxiety and sleeping difficulties.

No matter what you do the problem always seems to find you, and there’s no one who can help you.

You seek inner peace and acceptance. You have a deep desire to find your purpose.

If you answered YES
to any of the above…

YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT SPOT!

Before You Begin

It’s important to understand the different forms of self-care. Self-Care Connect dives deeper into the seven types of self-care: emotional, mental, physical, practical, professional, social, and spiritual. Understanding these areas will allow you to take the necessary steps to care for your mind and body.

  • Emotional Self-Care

Emotional health involves your ability to manage and express the emotions that arise from what you have learned and experienced. Emotional Self-Care is the act of nurturing and tending to your inner feelings and emotions; developing the ability to regulate them healthily during difficult times.

  • Mental Self-Care

The state of your mental health reflects how well your mind processes and understands information and experiences. Mental Self-Care involves activities that stimulate your mind and your intellect; declutter your mind to reduce stress and anxiety, and develop a loving relationship with your mind.

  • Physical Self-Care

Activities you do that improve the well-being of your physical health; involve physical activities to maintain a healthy body weight and boost your confidence and self-worth.

  • Practical Self-Care

Also known as productive self-care. These are tasks you complete that fulfill core aspects of your life to prevent future stress situations, known as the mundane everyday tasks that your life requires.

  • Professional Self-Care

Involves activities that help you feel balanced and fulfilled in your career; action to prevent burnout and keep you inspired; using habits, systems, processes, and communities to make your work life sustainable.

  • Social Self-Care

We are social beings and need regular connection with others. Invest time and energy into building your relationships with others; be open to new experiences.

  • Spiritual Self-Care

Spiritual Self-Care does not have to be religious, for some it is. This can be activities that nurture your spirit and allow you to think bigger than yourself; actions taken to deepen your connection with your higher self; engaging in practices to connect with and nurture your soul; providing comfort when you’re dealing with stressors such as grief and loss, medical or financial uncertainty.

  • Your Self-Care Practice

Self-care acts as a preventative measure to make sure that you don't become overwhelmed, overstressed, and burned out.

  • How many of the people you lead appear unhappy and struggling?

  • How often do you and your co-workers dread going to work?

  • How many of your employees are chronically late only to arrive lacking excitement and motivation?

  • How many of your team members have a poor attitude when you approach them to discuss strategic plans, tasks, and new ideas?

  • How has your work environment affected your attitude, your relationships, your home life, and your mental health?

Being Happy Matters addresses these issues and offers a structured plan so you can cultivate a positive and thriving culture in the office to increase performance, improve retention, and ramp up commitment.
